DC Super Hero Girls Go to Atlantis… Twice!

DC Super Hero Girls Go to Atlantis… Twice! It’s been a while since we’ve had a new DC Super Hero Girls original movie, which is a shame, because they’re fun. Hero of the Year came out in 2016, followed by Intergalactic Games last year, but then they switched to making Lego versions (Brain Drain and Super-Villain High), which look odd to me.

Now comes word that DC Super Hero Girls: Legends of Atlantis, a new original animated movie (72 minutes long), will be out on DVD ($19.98 list price) and digital ($14.99) on October 2. Yay! It will be accompanied by the 44-minute TV special Super Hero High. Here’s the plot description of the movie:

It seems like an uneventful day at school until the powerful Book of Legends is suddenly stolen from Super Hero High. In order to uncover the mystery, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Bumblebee, and the rest of the Super Crew must journey through the depths of the ocean to Atlantis. There, the girls encounter Mera and Siren, the ocean-dwelling thieves, who prove to be a formidable match. In order to recover the stolen tome and return it to its rightful place, DC Super Hero Girls must band together and use their collective powers to successfully get back to land… and back to class!

I like the idea of them swapping powers! That same day will bring a print DC Super Hero Girls book called The Search for Atlantis. Why all the watery adventure? Well, the next big DC movie is Aquaman, in December.

Voice talent for this movie include Grey Griffin (Wonder Woman), Tara Strong (Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy), Anais Fairweather (Supergirl), Mae Whitman (Batgirl), Teala Dunn (Bumblebee), and Stephanie Sheh (Katana). Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton and Ian Hamilton direct from a script by Shea Fontana.
