Black Panther DVD Date, Details Announced

Black Panther DVD Date, Details Announced As I suspected, Black Panther will be available on home video on May 15, with digital release a week earlier on May 8. The Blu-ray Combo Pack has been renamed the Multiscreen edition, which means it comes with a digital copy (but no DVD). It’s currently available for preorder at many retailers for $23 or so. As I suspected, Black Panther will be available on home video on May 15, with digital release a week earlier on May 8.

The Blu-ray Combo Pack has been renamed the Multiscreen edition, which means it comes with a digital copy (but no DVD). It’s currently available for preorder at many retailers for $23 or so. There’s a 4K Ultra HD edition that comes with Blu-ray and digital copy for $30. (Does anyone know anyone who’s shelled out for 4K yet?) Or there’s a plain old DVD for $20. The disc releases are still not available to preorder at Amazon.

The Blu-ray special features include an introduction and commentary by director Ryan Coogler, a gag reel, and “From Page to Screen: A Roundtable Discussion” with the movie’s filmmakers and writers. These making-of featurettes “detail the Black Panther’s evolution, the remarkable women of Wakanda, the history of T’Challa’s proud nation, and the cosmic origin and technological applications of vibranium.”

  • Crowning of a New King – Explore the world of “Black Panther” in all its color and complexity
  • The Warriors Within – Get to know Wakanda’s women and the actors who portray them
  • The Hidden Kingdom Revealed – Wakanda’s diverse people
  • Wakanda Revealed: Exploring the Technology

There are four deleted scenes:

  • U.N. Meet and Greet
  • Okoye and W’Kabi Discuss the Future of Wakanda
  • T’Challa Remembers His Father
  • Voices from the Past

As well as a featurette about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Marvel Studios the First Ten Years: Connecting the Universe”, and a sneak peek at the next film, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

There are two digital exclusives, “In World Wakanda Tourism Ads” — Come to Wakanda “Before” and Come to Wakanda “After”.

I’m glad to see that they’re diving further into the world of the movie, because I think there’s still a lot of interest in spending more time in Wakanda.
