Before he was grumpy military cop on Hawaii Five-O, Alex O’Loughin starred in the 2007 series Moonlight as a modern-day vampire who hooks up with a reporter (Sophia Myles, “The Girl in the Fireplace” on Doctor Who). I started watching it because his vampire mentor is played by Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars), but I was quickly sucked into the moody crime-fighting drama. Emphasis on the drama, as Alex’s character has an ex-wife (who turned him, played by Shannyn Sossamon) and a connection to the reporter as a child. Together, they solve crimes. Moonlight is enjoyable, and I wish there’d been more of it. It ran one season, 16 episodes, which you can watch now.
