![]() It\’s less than two months until the next Wizard World show here in Madison, Wisconsin. This, now in its fourth year, is not a spectacular show, with few guests interested in coming to the Midwest in late fall and little attention paid locally. Perhaps to compensate for that and make up for some of the recent cancellations, the organizer has announced “a revolutionary, fan-friendly pricing system with general admission as low as $9.99 for a limited time.” They\’re driving advance ticket sales by making admission only $10 for all three (well, 2 1/2) days. That\’s a good idea — getting rid of the $50 or $60 weekend admission ticket prices means more money to spend on the show floor. Going to this kind of con, which mostly exists to upsell you autographs and photo ops, shouldn\’t require saving up so much. Ticket prices will increase as the show gets closer, though. And there are also discount priority passes available (at $25 or $40), which provide early access and priority guest lines and seating. Headliners for the show are William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols, Matt Ryan (Constantine), Dean Cain, and some people from both Charmed (the original, not new, version) and Supernatural. There\’s one piece of comic-related programming announced so far, and it\’s a “Marvel vs. DC Debate”. I expect more information in the coming month, as the show gets closer. This lower-cost approach is expected to continue next year. The press release says:
