Old friend Joel Priddy (Pulpatoon Pilgrimage) has a newish webcomic, written by Benito Cereno (who also writes for Comics Alliance), called The Mummy’s Sabbatical. It’s about a mummy who becomes a professor, assisted by a young monster in the style of Frankenstein. The professor is due a sabbatical year, so he takes his assistant and a rocket ship that looks like a shark to the edge of the solar system. Along the way, we get academic jokes, poetry, a bit of animation, folk tales, songs, and retro-style paper dolls. It’s oddly fun, with the reader never knowing what’s going to come up next. Priddy’s smooth lines and comfortably round designs make it easy to read, regardless what aliens are encountered. I do have a suggestion: Given the structure of vertically scrolling strips, I would like to see the next/previous navigation bar at the bottom of the comic as well as the top. It would make reading the archives much easier. But right now, there’s only about 30 strips, so it’s an easy catch-up. Jump aboard! Link : The Mummy’s Sabbatical | |
