	Disney has released a Marvel Rising trailer. This is for Marvel Rising: Initiation, a precursor to the Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors movie due later this year. Disney has released a Marvel Rising trailer. This is for Marvel Rising: Initiation, a precursor to the Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors movie due later this year. Marvel Rising: Initiation is a series of six four-minute episodes written by Mairghread Scott, debuting August 13 on Disney XD. It’s about Ghost-Spider (formerly Spider-Gwen, voiced by Dove Cameron) going on the run after being framed for murder. A team of Squirrel Girl (Milana Vayntrub), Ms. Marvel (Kathreen Khavari), Quake (Chloe Bennet from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), and Patriot (Kamil McFadden) tries to collect her. The most unusual thing about the show is that the women have different body shapes! This is a welcome change from most animated shows, particularly those who exaggerate all their female characters into the same wasp-waisted silhouette. I’m excited for this new series, since the creators did research as to what young women want to see (which apparently includes cupcakes).
